According to the APP story, Theresa’s odyssey happened this way:

Theresa got a mammogram out of curiosiy, and was told she had Stage 3 breast cancer; she got three surgeries, and aggressive chemotherapy and radiation, leaving her violently ill, with no hair and other physical issues, according to the report.

She said to her daughter, “If I make it out of this alive, I want to have a real wedding. That’s my dream.”

On Aug. 22, she finally got to do that. Theresa and Dennis were married years back at the Lakewood Courthouse, but she never got to walk down the aisle, according to the report.

The event, held at Calvary Lighthouse in Lakewood, was a triumphant occasion for the New Jersey mother who had three procedures in less than three years, not to mention the life-threatening car accident one year following her last surgery, according to Yahoo Parenting.

But prior to the wreck that landed Theresa in the hospital for a month, Tonia had started to plan her mom’s wedding, according to the report. She succeeded.
