The Ocean Medical Center Association is sponsoring a special cocktail reception to celebrate the hospital’s thirty-first anniversary. The reception will honor Kathleen A. Martin, R.N.-B.C., OCN, MSW, LSW, nurse navigator and clinical advocate of oncology services for Ocean Medical Center and Neal and Ann Metnick, co-presidents of Ocean Medical Center Association.
The anniversary celebration will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30 at The Crystal Point, River Road in Point Pleasant. There will be an open bar and cocktail-style hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Tickets are $75 per person, with proceeds benefiting the cancer expansion project and other areas of greatest need at Ocean Medical Center. A multi-million dollar transformation of cancer services will soon be underway at the Brick-based medical center, which is part of Meridian’s $128 million investment to bring a higher level of care close to home by enhancing cancer services in Ocean and Monmouth counties.

Ocean Medical Center Association was originally known as “The Brick Township Hospital Fund Group.” From 1961 - 1968 a group of community-minded citizens worked tirelessly to generate interest in the possibility of the greater Brick area having its own hospital, since southern Monmouth County and northern Ocean County were growing at such a rapid pace. Through decades of fundraising, the Ocean Medical Center Association provided the impetus to build what is now known as Ocean Medical Center by purchasing and donating the hospital’s acreage in October of 1969. Since the hospital’s inception, they have continued to dedicate time and services to the hospital and in recent years have pledged over $2,000,000 towards the Ocean Medical Center Building Fund for improvements to the facility.
