One Charged, Others Sought In Lakewood Home Invasion, Shooting: Police

Authorities are seeking tips into the identities of two men; Terence Ousley of Asbury Park is held in lieu of $150,000 bail, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ -- Authorities continue to investigate a home invasion Monday night that left one man with a gunshot to the head and one man in jail, charged in the incident, Lakewood police said Tuesday.

Terence Ousley, 27, of Asbury Park, is charged with attempted murder, burglary, robbery, possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the incident that happened about 9 p.m. Monday, police said.

Police were called to an Eisenhower Street home after receiving a report of man shot during a home invasion and found a 32-year-old man with a wound to his head, police said. While the man was treated at the scene, police were told that three men had gone into the home and demanded an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot before the three men ran out of the house, police said. The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and is expected to survive, they said.

Meanwhile, police received a report of a suspicious person walking in an adjacent community, and Officer John Ganley found the man -- now identified as Ousley -- walking on Dorchester Drive. It was determined he was trespassing and he was arrested, police said.

Ousley is being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, in lieu of $150,000 bail, no 10 percent, set by Superior Court Judge James Blaney.

Also assisting in the investigation is the Ocean County Sheriff's Department K9 Unit, CSI and the Toms River Police Department K9 Unit.
