Overdose Death Under Investigation In Brick
A number of law enforcement vehicles seen at a home on Adamston Road were for the investigation, the prosecutor's office said.
BRICK, NJ — A law enforcement presence at a home on Adamston Road on Monday was due to an overdose death, authorities said Wednesday.
Residents posting on social media after seeing Brick Township police and a vehicle from the Ocean County medical examiner's office at the home had been speculating about a murder, but the Ocean County prosecutor's office said the death was an overdose, pending a toxicology report on the victim.
The prosecutor's office did not provide additional information or identify the victim.

Deaths that do not occur in a hospital are always investigated. In overdose cases where the overdose is due to illegal controlled dangerous substances, authorities look to prosecute those who sold the drugs to the victim under New Jersey's strict liability for drug-induced deaths law.
