Police: Brick Man Had Drugs In Car When Crash Knocked Out Cable Service

The man was charged with possession of crack cocaine, police said.

A Brick man who had crack cocaine in his possession crashed his car, causing a cable outage in a Monmouth County town, according to a report.

John Puryear, 39, was driving a car that hit a utility pole near Route 33 and Memorial Drive in Neptune at about 9:20 a.m. Sunday, Neptune police told the Asbury Park Press.

The damaged pole cut Verizon FiOS service in the area for hours. Police say Puryear was in possession of crack, but they don’t have a reason to believe he was under the influence at the time of the crash.
