Power Out, Detours In Place After Crash Snaps Utility Pole In Brick
A portion of Baywood Boulevard is closed while utility crews replace the pole; power could be out for at least 8 hours, police said.

A Brick Township teen suffered only minor injuries after he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole on Baywood Boulevard, police said.
The accident has resulted in a power outage to homes in the area, Brick Township Police Capt. Ronald Dougard said, with preliminary estimates of at least 8 hours before power is restored.
Daniel Schwindinger, 18, was issued a ticket for careless driving after the crash, which happened just before 3 p.m., Dougard said. Schwindinger was driving a 2005 Nissan SUV on Baywood Boulevard when he lost control and struck the pole between Atlantic and Camden drives, with the impact snapping the pole at its base.

The pole fell onto Baywood Boulevard, blocking the road, Dougard said, and traffic is detoured as a result. A crew from Jersey Central Power & Light is on the scene, he said in a news release just before 5 p.m.
Schwindinger received minor injuries from the airbag deployment and refused medical attention at the scene, he said.
