BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police are urging drivers to continue to avoid Route 70 east in the area of Route 88 as emergency repair work continues in the area.

Authorities on Friday morning said the issue was a broken water main, but the Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority said there is no break in the main.

"The incident was the result of a leaking water valve," said Chris Theodos, executive director of the Brick Township MUA.

He said there were no homes without water, though residents in the area were reporting low water pressure as a result of the leak.

"Work is progressing continuously and as quickly as possible," Theodos said. "We anticipate the repair to be completed today."
