Route 70 Wawa Proposal Hearing Coming Up In Brick
The special Board of Adjustment meeting on the proposal for the Wawa with gasoline pumps and a "quick-service" restaurant is Wednesday.

BRICK, NJ — The special Brick Township Board of Adjustment meeting scheduled for the proposal to build a Wawa and a "quick-serve" restaurant at the corner of Route 70 and Duquesne Boulevard is Wednesday night.
The meeting, scheduled at the Feb. 1 zoning board hearing, is expected to be dedicated solely to the application by Brick 70 Developers seeking more than a dozen variances to construct the Wawa with 12-pump fueling station and a quick-serve restaurant that was initially thought to be a Panera — though John Jackson, the attorney for Brick 70 Developers, said the restaurant occupant has not been finalized.
The zoning board began hearing the application in November, and the developer has made some changes to the plan since it was initially presented.

The most significant change is that the developer said it would build a third lane on the eastbound side of Route 70 that would pass in front of the property in an area where traffic congestion is significant already. A sound wall to minimize noise from the drive-through area also was added, and modifications to the traffic flow at the site, which the engineer, Jeremy Lang of Maser Consulting, said would reduce traffic problems that were posed by the initial site plan.
Harvey Langer, the zoning board chairman, said at the Feb. 1 meeting that he expects the public will be able to comment at Wednesday's meeting because it is devoted solely to this application.
