Route 88 Closed In Lakewood Due To Fatal Accident: Police

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Lakewood police are asking motorists to avoid Route 88 in the area of Ocean County Park while authorities investigate a serious accident that happened Saturday night.

Police did not have an estimate on how long the road would be closed, but said via Nixle that it is closed from Clover Street to New Hampshire Avenue in both directions.

The Lakewood Scoop reported that the accident involved multiple vehicles and that at least one person has died. The report said eight people were injured in the crash, and some of the injured had to be extricated.
