Pop-Up Party In Seaside Heights Blocked By Court Order

Seaside Heights officials have sued the organizer of a pop-up party that was set for early May, according to court documents.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ — A possible pop-up party in Seaside Heights has been turned aside by a court order barring the gatherings, according to court documents.

A posting on Instagram by the account "ratedrparties" on Monday said a party in Seaside Heights, which was referred to as a "link up", had been canceled.

"Due to getting letters from the town of Seaside warning to cancel the event, unfortunately I have to make that call," the posting said. "So everyone please I'm just asking ya this once, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT go to Seaside the day of the 'link up'. The town has officers ready to arrest anyone that comes/forms in big crowds. This is a warning from the town I want this for your safety as well as for myself I just ask that nobody pull up, Thanks for ya understanding the situation."

Seaside Heights received a temporary injunction on Monday from Ocean County Superior Court Judge Craig Wellerson, barring pop-up parties that were scheduled for May 5-6 and June 17, according to the show cause order.

The June 17 date was being marketed as "The Linkup at Seaside Pt 2," according to the order.

A hearing on a permanent injunction is set for May 3.

The May 5-6 party had been called "Project Takeover at Seaside," according to a report by NJ101.5.

Seaside Heights Police Chief Tommy Boyd said the Department of Homeland Security, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, New Jersey State Police and the FBI were assisting in investigating the postings, according to the report.

Pop-up parties have been an issues for beach towns up and down the coast since the pandemic. In 2020, a massive pop-up party in Point Pleasant Beach led to arrests and mounds of garbage. In 2021, a party drew 1,000 people to Long Branch.

Last summer, after a pop-up party in Long Branch drew 5,000 people and got out of control, forcing authorities to declare a curfew, towns got aggressive, taking the organizers to court.
