Senior softball players wanted

Ocean County’s largest autumn senior softball league is looking for a few more good men and women from Brick.

The “slow-pitch” but fast-paced organization is open to county residents age 60 and up.

Its Tuesday and Thursday morning doubleheaders will begin on September 8th at Whispering Pines Park in Holiday City, off Route 37, and at Veterans Park, next to Central Regional High School.

Advance registration is required by August 4th. Last year the Berkeley Fall Senior Premier League had 108 participants on six teams.

Each team will play 28 regular-season games this season, plus playoff games at the end of October. A $35 per-player fee will cover shirts, umpiring, secondary insurance and softballs.

The organization is also sponsoring a fall league on Friday mornings for those born in 1950 or earlier. The first doubleheader will be on September 11th. Players may participate in both leagues.
