Shots Fired In Route 70 Road Rage Incident, 2 Men, Pickup Truck Sought: Brick Police

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have captured it on a dashcam to contact them.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township police are seeking two men after shots were fired on Route 70 during a road rage incident Saturday evening.

The two men were described as white and in their 20s to early 30s, and were driving a newer model red pickup truck with an extended cab, Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

The incident was reported at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Kelly said. The victim told police the incident started on Brick Boulevard, and the pickup truck continued to pass him and brake-check him several times as they drove down Route 70 east.

While the victim was stopped at the red light at the Route 70/Route 88 interchange, the suspect drove by and fired three shots toward the passenger side of his vehicle, Kelly said. The pickup truck then took off and was last seen going east on Route 70, running several red lights, he said.

The victim lost sight of the pickup truck in the area of Olden Street, Kelly said.

Patrol officers met with the victim at his home; he was not injured. One bullet was found in the front passenger side door frame, Kelly said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the suspect vehicle, or anyone who has a working dashcam who was traveling on Brick Boulevard and Route 70 east between 7:35 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. and may have captured footage is asked to contact Detective Ryan Talty at 732-262-1170 or rtalty@brickpd.com.
