State Police Seize Drugs, $13K, Weapons In Brick-Lakewood Bust

Four people, including two from Ocean County, were arrested in the raid by state police

More than 500 doses of heroin, $13,000, an AK-47 assault rifle, several handguns and dozens of rounds of hollow-point bullets were seized, and four people -- including two Ocean County residents -- were arrested Friday as New Jersey State Police raided a drug operation in Brick and Lakewood, police announced Monday.

Anthony Simpson 39, and Ashley Askew, 25, both of Lakewood, and Jasmine Mosher, 22, and Antonio Spradley, 23, both of Moultrie, Ga., have been charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, possession of a weapon while possessing a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a weapon without a permit, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of hollow-point bullets, possession of a large capacity magazine, and possession of stolen movable property, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeff Flynn said.

Anthony Simpson was additionally charged with certain persons not to have a weapon, Flynn said.

The arrests, by the members of the state police Gangs and Organized Crime Central Unit, Troop “C” T.E.A.M.S, and the NJ State Police Canine Unit, were the result of a three-month investigation, he said.

State Police executed a search warrant at 265 Woodlake Manor Dr., Lakewood, and the four suspects were located inside the home and arrested without incident.

As a result of the search at the Lakewood home, detectives seized the following:

  • One .357 handgun with 6 hollow point bullets (reported stolen in Georgia)
  • One .327 revolver ( reported stolen in Georgia)
  • One 9mm handgun with extended 31-round magazine
  • 20 ounces of cocaine
  • 52 bricks of heroin -- equivalent to 520 individual doses
  • Two pounds of marijuana
  • 190 hollow-point rounds
  • Narcotic paraphernalia (scales and packaging material)
  • Approximately $3,000 U.S. currency

Further investigation led detectives to search a motel room in Brick that was rented by one of the suspects. That search led to the seizure of the following:

  • One AK-47 assault rifle
  • One 100-round drum
  • Two 30-round magazines with ammunition
  • One 9 mm handgun
  • Approximately $10,000 U.S. currency

All four are being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, in lieu of $660,000 bail, no 10 percent option, each, Flynn said.
