Stay Off Icy Roads, Ocean County Sheriff Urges
Efforts to clear side streets continue in many towns and main roads turned icy overnight, sheriff warns.

Ocean County drivers are urged to continue to stay off the roads Sunday morning, as efforts to clear them continue throughout the county, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office said.
In a Nixle alert issued about 7:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office warned that the roads are very icy and that side roads have not been cleared.
“The state of emergency is still in effect for all of Ocean County,” the alert said. A post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page noted the state of emergency remains in effect for the entire state as plowing and salting continues.

The New Jersey State Police said in a Facebook post that they alone have responded to more than 200 accidents and have had more than 1,000 motorist aids, where they respond “when you breakdown, get a flat, or spin out because you’re driving too fast for the snowy road conditions,” State Police said in a Facebook post.
Those figures do not reflect responses by local or county law enforcement, they said.
