SummerFest Thursday: Food, Music And N.J. Hall Of Fame

The Mobile Hall of Fame has interactive exhibits and displays on celebrities and influential people who hail from the Garden State.

Bring your beach chairs, your blankets and your curiosity -- this week’s SummerFest has more than just music to keep residents entertained.

The New Jersey Hall of Fame Mobile Museum, which showcases information about Garden State residents who have made invaluable contributions to the state and the world in arts, business, sports, science and business, will be on site, according to a news release.

“We are excited to have the Mobile Museum visit SummerFest this week. It will be a great addition to the night and will give everyone the chance to learn more about our great state and important figures in our state’s history,” Mayor John Ducey said.

The museum is coming to SummerFest free of charge to the township, Ducey said at the Township Council meeting Tuesday night.

Designed by famed architect and NJHOF inductee Michael Graves, and renowned museum exhibition designer, Ralph Appelbaum Associates, the Mobile Museum offers a dramatic multimedia exhibition created around the theme — “Make a Difference.” Through images, artifacts, film, and interactive elements, visitors can explore the ways that Hall of Fame inductees have changed the state and the world: as innovators, as leaders, and as voices for the voiceless—often against overwhelming odds, the news release said.

Its inductees include people as diverse as Bruce Springsteen and Thomas Edison, Frank Sinatra, General Norman Schwarzkopf and Yogi Berra.

SummerFest begins at 6 p.m. The concert Thursday night will feature The Bronx Wanderers and will be followed by fireworks display.
