Taking An Uber To SummerFest? Brick Has A Dropoff Site

With an increase in SummerFest attendees using ridesharing services, the town has set up a site for people to get dropped off.

BRICK, NJ — If you're planning to take an Uber to SummerFest at Windward Beach Park on Thursday night, Brick Township officials have set up a dropoff location for riders.

"We have seen an increase in the use of rideshare services (Uber, Lyft, etc) by people attending SummerFest," Brick officials said in a post on the township's Facebook page.

"In an effort to make attending SummerFest easier and safer for everyone, we ask any person using rideshare services to get dropped off and picked up on Brushy Neck Drive," officials said.

After the concert, riders should be picked up on the west curb of Brushy Neck Drive, officials said.

Centralizing the rideshare dropoffs and pick-ups at Brushy Neck Drive avoids having vehicles stopping in traffic on Princeton Avenue, which is teeming with shuttle buses and other traffic on concert nights.

Some residents of the neighborhood responded to the post asking Brick officials to reconsider using Brushy Neck Drive, out of concern that people will be parking on the street there. Rideshare services don't operate like taxis in that they don't sit and wait in groups to pick up riders, however, so there should not be vehicles parked waiting during the concert.
