Teen Rescued From Mud While Fishing In Brick: Report

The teen was fishing Saturday and got stuck as the tide started to come in, police said.

BRICK, NJ -- A Brick Township teen had to be rescued after he got stuck in the mud in while fishing Saturday, according to a report.

NJ.com reported the teen, who was under 17, was wading in a tributary of the Manasquan River near Godfrey Lake in the Herbertsville section of town when he got stuck up to his knees as the tide started to come in, police said.

The teen, who was wearing fishing waders, called police from his cell phone, and police and the Herbertsville Fire Company were able to free him by 3:32 p.m., according to NJ.com.

Police told NJ.com that mud was very deep and thick where the teen was wading, and the suction created by the wetness is why the teen got stuck. He was not injured, they said.
