How much has your district paid for teachers?
Below is a complete breakdown, provided by NJ Spotlight, of average N.J. salaries, salary ranges and average teacher experience in each district from the most recent school year available.
Patch, with NJ Spotlight’s permission, then took the list and compiled the top 100 districts based on average salaries. Below that is a map that allows you to search for your district and receive the same information.
The average salary of New Jersey teachers, administrators and superintendents actually has dropped slightly in recent years, and NJ Spotlight says it’s largely due to the retirement of experienced educators who were replaced by younger staff at lower salaries.
Teachers and other non-administrative professional staff received a base salary on average of $68,302 in 2013-14, a fraction of a percent less than in the prior year, the NJ Spotlight analysis of salary data for more than 140,000 professional school employees found.
The analysis was from 2013-14 because NJ Spotlight said there was a problem with 2014-15 data.
