Three Hospitalized After Route 70 Crash In Brick

Police said the crash occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Three Brick Township residents were injured early Saturday morning in a crash at the intersection of Route 70 and Herbertsville Road in Brick, police said.

Sarabjit Kaur, 38; Maria Compos, 28, and Joseph Mayo, 24, all were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, after the crash, which happened shortly before 6:30 a.m., Sgt. Neal Pedersen said. Brick Township Patrolman David Thergesen and Patrolman Marc Alexander responded to the crash, he said.

The preliminary investigation has determined that Kaur was northbound on Herbertsville Road in a 2005 Hummer H2 when a 2000 Chevy Malibu driven by Compos, who was southbound on Herbertsville Road, turned left in front of the Hummer, police said.

Kaur suffered a back injury, police said.

Compos and Mayo, who was Compos’s passenger, had to be extricated from the Malibu by Herbertsville Fire Company, Pedersen said. Compos suffered leg and neck injuries, and Mayo suffered internal injuries, he said.

Brick Police First Aid and MONOC paramedics responded and transported the three to Jersey Shore. Pedersen and Patrolman Jay Lampiasi from the Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene for further investigation.
