If you haven't heard the rumbles already, be prepared: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect.
The National Weather Service's Mount Holly office issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Ocean County through about 5:30 p.m., with a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until about 9 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm was seen on radar about 4:30 p.m. moving east and carrying wind gusts of up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail, according to the weather service.

"Hail damage to vehicles is expected," the warning reads. "Expect wind damage to roofs, siding and trees."
Residents are urged to stay inside and away from windows.
