UPDATE: Beaver Dam Bridge Reopens

Brick Township police issued the alert shortly after 10 a.m. that the gates were stuck.

UPDATE, 1:45 p.m.: The Beaver Dam Bridge has reopened to vehicular traffic, the Brick Township Police Department announced.

Repairs to the gates that halt traffic when the bridge is open to boats have been completed, police said.

PREVIOUSLY: Motorists who use the Beaver Dam Bridge to travel between Princeton Avenue in Brick Township and Bridge Avenue in Point Pleasant will have to take an alternate route Monday, police said.

The bridge is closed as of 10 a.m. after the gates got stuck in the closed position, Brick Township Police Sgt. Neal Pedersen said.

There is no timetable on when access to the bridge will be restored, he said.
