TRAFFIC ALERT: Brick Police Officer's Funeral Procession Expected About Noon In Toms River
Brick Police Officer Kristopher DeMarco is being laid to rest this morning with hundreds expected to attend.
TOMS RIVER, NJ -- Motorists in Toms River should expect traffic delays from Route 37 to North Bay Avenue around noon due to the funeral procession for Brick Township Police Officer Kristopher DeMarco.
The funeral Mass of Christian Burial for DeMarco, who died Saturday at the age of 38 due to pancreatic cancer, begins at 10:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, just off Mule Road. After the Mass at the church, DeMarco will be laid to rest at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road.
The funeral procession, which Toms River police said is expected to include between 250-300 vehicles, will travel Mule Road to Route 37 east to the Garden State Parkway, north on the Parkway to Exit 83, then left on Lomell Road to Bay Avenue; left onto North Bay Avenue, to Silverton Road.

It is expected to depart from the church at about noon. Motorists are reminded that state law says drivers must yield the right of way to a funeral procession proceeding, and prohibits the interruption of a funeral procession.
Toms River police will be directing traffic in some spots.
