UPDATE: Paving Project On Hooper Avenue In Brick Delayed

The road, known to many longtime residents as Old Hooper Avenue, will have closures and detours around the paving, police said.

UPDATE: The paving project planned for Old Hooper Avenue between Drum Point Road and Cedar Bridge Avenue has been postponed one day, Brick police said Monday.

It will now begin Tuesday evening and is expected to be completed Wednesday evening. The hours of the project remain the same, Sgt. Larry Petrola said.

PREVIOUSLY: Detours will be in place during overnight hours on Monday and Tuesday next week as road crews repave a section of Hooper Avenue in Brick, police said Friday.

The paving, by the Ocean County Road Department, will be on the section of Hooper Avenue -- known to many as Old Hooper Avenue -- from 7 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, and again from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, Brick Sgt. Larry Petrola said.

The work will require the closing of Hooper Avenue from Mantoloking Road/Cedar Bridge Avenue to Drum Point Road, he said, and includes the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Drum Point Road.

Detours will be set up and should be followed, Petrola said. The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday morning.
