Blown Transformer Knocks Out Traffic Lights In Brick

BRICK, NJ -- Brick Township police are urging motorists to avoid the area of Hooper Avenue and Cedar Bridge and Mantoloking roads due to a power outage caused by a blown transformer.

In a Nixle alert issued Thursday afternoon, police said the power outage is expected to last about 3 hours. According to the First Energy outage map, Jersey Central Power & Light has crews on scene and anticipates restoring power by 5 p.m.

In the meantime, police are asking motorists to avoid the area because the power outage means traffic signals are not working.
