Ana Egge to Perform at Brick's 'Rosie's Cafe'
The singer-songwriter will perform songs from all seven of her records

'Rosie's Cafe' is a series of concerts in Brick hosted at the home of a township resident.
On Sunday, singer-songwriter Ana Egge will perform at Rosie’s Cafe as part of her spring and summer tour. Brick Patch had a chance to talk to her about her newest album and what people can expect from her performance in Brick.
Patch: For our readers who have not yet heard about you and your music, please tell us a little about yourself.
Ana Egge: I’m a singer/song writer living in New York. I grew up out west. I have seven records out now and have been on tour for the past few years of my life.
Patch: I’ve had a chance to listen to some of your music. It sounds great! How would you classify your musical style and what you perform?
AE: Thank you. Folk-americana, but I like that the songs I like can be made into different styles. I really think it’s all about the song and feeling of the song.
Patch: Interesting. Tell us a little about your newest album Bad Blood.
AE: It’s very personal and has dark edges of the last sixteen years of living with mental illness in my family. It just came out that I could not get around it anymore. I was forced to deal with it, so that's the subject matter and then I recorded it.
Patch: Oh wow. What would you say is your fans' favorite song on this album and why?
AE: Hm, my fans' favorite? I would say ‘Hole in Your Halo.’ As a writer, I’m always wanting to acknowledge and honor the tradition that I come from. Meaning, the great American song writers, but at the same time wanting to embody it and have it be honest and true from my prescriptive and I think that song succeeds in that.
Patch: Which song did you most enjoy working on from this album?
AE: I most enjoyed writing ‘Motorcycle.’ It’s about the pure enjoyment of being on a motorcycle and feeling free and being out there alone. It’s all abut that moment and that freedom.
Patch: Sounds great! What can attendees expect from seeing you perform at Rosie's Cafe?
AE: I'll be solo. I like to engage with the audience and tell little stories about the songs to invite them into the music. I will do songs from all my records and will bring the slide guitar.
Tickets to the concert are $20 each and can be purchased at the door, but an R.S.V.P prior to the night of the concert is required in order to learn the location.
R.S.V.P by emailing Brenda at rosies-cafe@comcast.net. The show will begin at 7 p.m. To learn more about Egge, visit her website at www.anaegge.com.
