Vehicle Rolls Onto Brick Man, Killing Him

The man appeared to have been working on the vehicle at the time, police said.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man died Sunday when a vehicle rolled onto him at his home, Brick Township police said Tuesday.

Robert Grippe, 61, was found unresponsive and partially underneath the passenger side of the vehicle shortly before noon at a home on Lagoon Drive West, Officer Victoria Finelli said. The vehicle was on the street in front of the home, she said.

Grippe was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

Finelli said the preliminary investigation found he may have been working on the vehicle at the time and it rolled toward his body. Police did not immediately say what kind of vehicle was involved.

Hackensack University Medical Center paramedics and members of the Brick Township Fire Department also responded to assist.

Officer David Thergesen of the department's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating, Finelli said.
