Want To Prepay Your 2018 Brick Property Taxes? Here's Information
The tax reform bill signed into law limits the deduction for property taxes to $10,000; many are trying to maximize their 2017 deduction.

BRICK, NJ -- If you are considering prepaying your 2018 property taxes, the Brick Township Tax Collector's Office says time is running out to do so.
As a result of the tax bill signed into law last week that changes the tax code, the deduction for state and local taxes -- including property taxes -- is now limited to $10,000. As a result, many people are seeking to prepay their 2018 property taxes to maximize their state and local tax deduction for 2017.
The Brick Township tax collector's office said prepayment of property taxes must be received and posted by the close of business on Friday, Dec. 29 to be deductible in the 2017 tax year, according to IRS rules.

So if you're paying in person, you have until the office closes at 4 p.m. on Friday to deliver your payment and get it posted (but do the folks a favor and don't arrive at 3:59 p.m.).
If you're paying online, however, you must pay by Thursday, Dec. 28. Payments made online after that will not be received by the township until Jan. 2, the tax collector's office said.

Those paying online by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express) through Official Payments are reminded there is a convenience fee of 2.8 percent for credit cards and 1 percent for debit cards. You may reach them at www.officialpayments.com or 1-888-272-9829 the Jurisdiction Code is: 4045. Again, online payments must be made by Thursday, Dec. 28. Payments made after Thursday will not be received until Jan. 2, 2018.
