BRICK, NJ — The Warren Wolf Golf Outing, sponsored by Brick United, will be held this Saturday, May 4, at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Lakewood.

Brick United is a nonprofit organization that promotes "community and education" within Brick Township. Its main focus is based on Warren H. Wolf’s ideals—volunteerism, teamwork and knowledge.

Warren Wolf’s influence in Brick extends well beyond his record-setting career as the Green Dragons' football coach. Coach Wolf, who will be 92 in August, served the community for decades as an educator and coach, as well as serving as mayor and state assemblyman, while being husband and father, and friend to many.

"He always puts others before himself and preaches cooperation for the good of the community," a news release from Brick United said. "His message is infectious. So infectious that Brick United was formed to carry on his civic work, and championship spirit."

"My dad loves the young people of Brick— it is what he is proudest of," his son, Warren Wolf Jr., said. "He hammered it into me too. I lived with that man; he was the same at home as he was in public."

Under the leadership of Justin Gray and Warren Wolf Jr., Brick United is growing and each day more people are committing to support the mission to fund the scholarship program.

"The support for our project has been outstanding," said Shawn Scott, a member of its board of directors.

Dennis Filippone, a founding member of Brick United and the former principal of Brick Township High School and former interim superintendent of the district, said he has been involved in many golf outings and he is grateful and excited that the Warren Wolf Golf Outing has grown into well-supported event beyond his wildest expectations.

Filippone said there is still room for both golfers and for those who would like to just come to the dinner to join the event.

The golfing is a shotgun start at 1 p.m. — golfer check-in begins at noon — followed by a sit-down dinner and an open bar.

"Not a golfer? Join us for dinner and drinks as we come together as a community," the news release said.

"You can walk right up on Saturday for either the golf or the dinner," Filippone said. The outing will fund four scholarships — two at Brick Memorial, and two at Brick Township.

You can register for the outing at www.warrenwolfgolfouting.com.

"Together, we will continue to keep Mr. Warren H. Wolf’s legacy alive," the news release said.
