BRICK, NJ — Wawa is set to open its newest store in Brick, at Route 88 and Jack Martin Boulevard, on Thursday, giving the company six in the township.

The store has festivities set to begin with the opening at 8 a.m. and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. at the store, a Wawa spokesman said.

The first 100 customers through the door on Thursday will receive Wawa T-shirts, and there will be free coffee and a ceremonial coffee toast.

The store, which received approval from the Brick Township Board of Adjustment in 2018, is located along busy Route 88. The traffic plans were approved by the state Department of Transportation in 2018, according to testimony before the zoning board.

The Wawa becomes the sixth in the township. The location at Route 70 and Duquesne Boulevard opened in late July and is a store with gasoline, like the Jack Martin location and the store on Brick Boulevard just north of Silverton.

Three of the locations are what Wawa calls legacy stores — they are stores without gasoline. One is at Brick Boulevard and Cedar Bridge Avenue; a second is on Drum Point Road at Adamston Road.

The third legacy store, on Lanes Mill Road near Bernie Cooke Park, is slated to be remodeled and expanded to include gasoline pumps, which was approved by the zoning board in 2019.
