WEATHER ALERT FOR OCEAN COUNTY: Watch For Icy Roads On Your Morning Commute
Temperatures are supposed to remain around freezing through early Wednesday, forecasters say.
Falling temperatures and wet surfaces have weather forecasters warning motorists of the potential for an icy drive Monday morning from Ocean County.
The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement late Sunday night for Ocean County warning that falling temperatures — temperatures fell from highs in the upper 50s to just about freezing late Sunday — would continue into early Monday with lows well below freezing.
"While a breeze has tended to dry out many surfaces, locally icy conditions can develop where surface moisture lingers," the weather service said, "especially on some secondary roads and parking lots."
