Happenings in and around Brick this week

This is the seventh week of 2015. Here’s happenings in Brick this week:
It is Brick Township Police Appreciation Week, as declared by Mayor John Ducey.
Today, Presidents’ Day, is a federal holiday. All federal, state, county and municipal offices are closed. Garbage and recycling schedules are delayed one day this week. There is no mail delivery.

On Tuesday, the Township Council meets at 7 p.m. The township’s police department will be honored, and Ocean County Engineer Frank Scarantino is scheduled to make a presentation.
On Wednesday, the Board of Adjustment meets at 7 p.m.

Also on Wednesday, the Brick branch of the Ocean County Library presents the stage play, “Bang! Life After Death,” at 7 p.m. It tells a story of a young man who faces choices, and how these choices can ultimately affect his young life. This is an excellent presentation in addressing issues such as anti-violence, and is being called a “definite message and eye opener for our youth.” Please contact the branch at 732-477-4513 to register.
On Saturday, the township will conduct fire district elections. Polls are open from 2-9 p.m.
