Wet, Windy Week Ahead, Followed By Arctic Blast: N.J. Weather

How does a polar vortex sound for the first week of April?

The calm weekend weather is a thing of the past, with a wind advisory in place Monday afternoon and evening and more rain expected later in the week.

And then don't look now, but a polar vortex could send cold air our way during the first week of April.

The rain is expected to move out Monday afternoon, but wind gusts of over 50 mph will be possible, according to the National Weather Service.

"Strong wind could cause power outages due to downed power lines. Additionally, there could be tree limbs down. Use caution if you drive a high profile or lightweight vehicle, especially on north/south roadways," the NWS said in its wind advisory, which is in effect from 2 p.m. through midnight.

Rain is also expected on Thursday and Friday throughout New Jersey.

A polar vortex could impact the region over the weekend, according to AccuWeather.

Highs early next week are currently expected to be in the mid-40s and then drop into the upper-20s or low-30s at night, Weather.com says.

Next Sunday is still a week away, though, so for now, we will hope that polar vortex is just an April Fools' joke.
