BRICK, NJ — The wait is over: White Castle has opened its Brick Township location, years after it first was announced.

The restaurant, which is in the now-named Riverwalk at Brick shopping center (longtime locals know it as the Kennedy Mall shopping center) opened its doors Monday morning.

The long-delayed project, hailed on the White Castle Facebook page as "reopened" in Brick, first was approved in 2007, an Asbury Park Press report noted. But the construction never started. The Brick Township Planning Board reapproved the project in 2017, and work finally started in December 2018 at the site, which once was home to Alan's Florist.

The White Castle, next door to Outback Steakhouse, reached the final construction stages in March, when the road was opened for water and sewer connections.

The restaurant has 60 seats and a drive-through for those late-evening cravings.
