Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Brick Township

A wintry mess expected today and tomorrow, a significant snowstorm also possible on Thursday, with temperatures to fall.

You’d think with the first day of spring only several weeks away, winter would begin to fade away.

You’d be wrong.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory beginning this afternoon, with a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain before changing over to all rain tonight.

Today - Expect a chance of snow between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. today, with a high of 33 degrees and snow and ice accumulation of less than half an inch.

“Untreated surfaces may become icy,” the NWS said. ”Even a light amount of ice could lead to hazardous travel conditions.”

Tonight - Rain, freezing rain and sleet before 7 p.m., all rain after. Temperatures will begin to rise to around 40 degrees. Winds will be from the south at 9 to 15 miles per hour, before switching to the southwest around midnight.

Wednesday - Rain, with a high of 47. Winds will be from the west at 8 to 14 miles per hour.

Wednesday night - Rain, snow and sleet before 2 a.m., snow and sleet between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., changing over to all snow after 4 am. Expect a low of 28 degrees and northwest winds between 9 to 13 miles per hour. Snow accumulations of one to three inches are possible.

Thursday - Winter returns. Three to five inches of snow are expected, with a high of 30 degrees and north winds around 15 miles per hour. Temperatures will plummet Thursday night, with a low of 11 degrees.

“There is the potential for a significant accumulating snowfall Wednesday night and Thursday, which would impact especially the morning commute,” the NWS said.

Temperatures will moderate as we head into the weekend.
