Woman Killed In Route 35 Hit-And-Run In Brick

Authorities are searching for a Ford Explorer and any other information about the crash Saturday morning.

BRICK, NJ — Authorities released a photo of a Ford Explorer seen in the area of a hit-and-run on Route 35 that killed a woman on Saturday morning.

The woman, who has not been identified, was hit while on the shoulder of Route 35 south near Bay Boulevard about 9:15 a.m. Saturday, a joint news release from Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Township Police Chief David Forrester said

The SUV fled after hitting the woman, authorities said. She was taken to Ocean University Medical Center in Brick, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Investigators believe the vehicle that hit the woman is a spruce green Ford Explorer, model year between 1998 and 2001.

The vehicle will likely have front passenger side damage and a broken front passenger side headlight, authorities said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Anthony Carrington of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, ext. 3257, or Patrolman Scott Mesmer of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1100.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, Brick Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit investigated at the scene.
