Woman Files Multimillion Dollar Lawsuit Against Six Flags Over Broken Ankle: Report

The woman was hurt when she and a friend smashed into the mouth of the King Cobra slide, according to the report.

JACKSON, NJ — A New York woman has filed a $3 million lawsuit against Six Flags Great Adventure after breaking her ankle on a water slide at its Hurricane Harbor park, according to a report.

The New York Daily News reported the woman, Tolyndra Pierre, was riding the King Cobra water slide with a male friend in August 2015 when they slammed into the "mouth" of the snake at the end of the ride.

Pierre and her friend were riding a double tube on the ride, which they had brought over from another slide, the Daily News reported.

Double tubes are not permitted on the ride. The Six Flags website also says the ride "does not accommodate guests weighing over 200 pounds.

The report said Pierre and her friend each apparently exceeded the 200-pound weight restriction, quoting the woman's lawyer.

Because of their combined weight, the double tube did not safely stop at the end of the ride, according to the report, slamming both into the cobra.

Riders can reach speeds of 32 mph over the course of the 256-foot-long ride that begins 56 feet in the air and has a final drop of 25 feet, according to the park's website.

The lawyer told the Daily News that park personnel should have tried to stop them from riding together and did not.

"Unfortunately, we cannot comment on pending litigation, however, the safety and well-being of our guests is always our top priority," said Kaitlyn Pitts, a public relations supervisor for Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor.
