Wrong-Way Crash On Burnt Tavern Kills Monmouth Co. Man, Injures 2 Brick Residents: Police
A Millstone man has been ID'd as the person who died in the May 9 crash, and a Brick man remains in critical condition, police said.

BRICK, NJ — A Monmouth County man has been identified as the person who died in a crash on Burnt Tavern Road on May 9.
Kory Werner, 44, of Millstone, was killed in the crash that happened on Burnt Tavern Road near Greenbriar Boulevard, Police Officer Victoria Finelli said Wednesday.
Werner was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Burnt Tavern Road about 11:15 p.m., when his vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Linda Carrier, 69, of Brick, Finelli said.

Werner died at the scene of the crash.
Carrier and her passenger, John Carrier, 78, of Brick, were injured in the crash and taken to the hospital for treatment, Finelli said.

John Carrier remains in critical condition, while Linda Carrier suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, Finelli said.
Werner had a dog with him at the time of the crash, Finelli said. The dog escaped when first responders opened the vehicle to treat Werner, but was found later and turned over to A-Academy, the township's animal control company.
