Is Your Property At Risk Of Flooding? Brick Offering Info, Resources

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township residents are invited to a flood information session followed by a screening of a documentary about Barnegat Bay on Tuesday, June 27.

The event is being held at 6 p.m. at Traders Cove Marina, 40 Mantoloking Road, and Brick officials are hoping people will come out and take advantage of the information.

The session, in the boater facility at Traders Cove Marina, will provide information on flooding, flood risks and prevention, flood insurance, the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System, and various other flooding-related topics.

Brick Township's municipal employees who are the town's professionals will be on hand to discuss mitigation options and explore potential improvements that can be made to lower flood insurance premiums.

Immediately following the session, Save Barnegat Bay will present its documentary "Drift," which "tells the story of Barnegat Bay through the voices and eyes of people who cherish the bay as a natural, recreational, and economic resource for the local community and all of New Jersey," according to the Save Barnegat Bay website. The film explores 50 years of complex issues through a series of vignettes, "using a variety of perspectives, viewpoints, and experiences."

It won Best New Jersey film at the Indie Street Film Festival.
