In-Person Graduation Returns To Raritan Valley Community College

This is the first in-person commencement since 2019. The commencement ceremonies in 2020 and 2021 were held virtually.

BRANCHBURG, NJ — For the first time in two years, more than 1,200 students were able to graduate during an in-person Raritan Valley Community College's Commencement Ceremony.

This is the first in-person commencement since 2019. The commencement ceremonies in 2020 and 2021 were held virtually.

The commencement was held this past Saturday on the soccer field at the College’s Branchburg campus where students were awarded associate degrees and certificates from RVCC.

The event also honored 84 graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021 who had their commencement ceremonies held virtually because of the pandemic.

The program featured Rebecca Purnell of Hightstown as the student commencement speaker. Purnell is graduating from RVCC Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Liberal Arts. She has been an active member of the College community, serving as Vice President of the American Sign Language Club and a member of both the Hope Club — where she has helped challenge stigmas surrounding drug addiction — and the Philosophy Club.

Carolyn Kinebrew-Bosa of Jersey City, an Assistant Professor of Communication and Film Studies, delivered the faculty commencement address.

DeAnna Minus-Vincent, Executive Vice President, Chief Social Justice & Accountability Officer, RWJBarnabas Health, and Robert P. Wise, who served as Chair of RVCC’s Board of Trustees from 2015-2021, both received honorary degrees during the ceremony.
