3 Democrats Are Running For Bridgewater Township Council

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater Democratic Committee has endorsed Jill Gladstone, Jennifer Feigley and Saad Toor for three seats on the Township Council, to be filled at the Nov. 2 General Election.

Gladstone is a graduate of Tulane University with a B.S. in Psychology. She is a member of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Board of Education, having been elected in 2007 and re-elected four times since. Gladstone’s service on the Board includes three years as its president, four years as vice president and chairmanship of several committees. She also co-founded a statewide education advocacy group and has testified before state legislative committees on academic standards. Gladstone’s experience includes more than 10 years as an account executive in both the industrial packaging and wholesale food industries. She has three sons, two who graduated from
Bridgewater-Raritan High School and a senior at the high school.

Feigley has a B.A. in English and Psychology from Monmouth University. She is a current MBA in Accounting candidate at Purdue University and holds a professional designation in Risk Management. She is a customer solutions leader at McMaster-Carr in Robbinsville and has previously worked as a Risk Manager/Business Development Manager for several top companies in the area. She was also a 15-year volunteer committee member for the Long Hill Township Community Center before relocating to Bridgewater. Recently she has served the Somerset County Mask Squad in helping to distribute PPE to local workers and families as well as helping to lead the Bridgewater Vaccine Angels, a group volunteering to secure vaccine appointments for local seniors and those with qualifying medical conditions.

Toor holds a B.A. in Political Science and M.A. in Education, both from the University of Connecticut, and an M.S. in Modern South Asian Studies with a focus in International Relations from Oxford University. He has taught as a lecturer at the University of Connecticut and as an instructor for Stanford University in Oxford. Formerly a public school teacher in Connecticut, Toor is now an upper school World History teacher at The Pingry School in Bernards Township, where he also coaches middle school basketball and soccer. He also serves as an adjunct professor of Global Studies for Sacred Heart University's Department of Government and Politics.

Among the issues, the candidates intend to address are the need for better communications with the public; an end to political cronyism and favoritism; improved response to poor road conditions, weather-related emergencies and other pressing issues; better oversight of the township administration; and an end to one-party rule.
