3rd Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine Now Available In Somerset County
The Somerset County Department of Health will begin administering third doses on Monday to eligible Somerset County residents.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Immunocompromised residents can now get the third COVID-19 vaccine dose in Somerset County.
The Somerset County Department of Health(SCDoH) will begin administering third doses on Monday to eligible individuals who live in Somerset County:
- Monday, Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bound Brook Community Center – 200 Thompson Avenue, Bound Brook (Only third doses will be administered)
- Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 4 to 7:30 p.m. – Bridgewater Senior Wellness Center – 876 East Main Street, Bridgewater (first, second and third doses will be administered)
Residents must bring proof of vaccination and Somerset County residency to receive a third dose. Individuals must be 12 years or older for an additional Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 dose, and 18 years or older for an additional Moderna COVID-19 dose. Subsequent third dose clinics will be listed at co.somerset.nj.us/vaxclinics.

"Somerset County is committed to doing everything we can to protect our residents from COVID-19 and welcome the opportunity to administer third doses of vaccine to those with compromised immune systems as recommended by the CDC and FDA," said Somerset County Commissioner Doug Singleterry, liaison to the SCDoH. "We will also continue to provide vaccinations at our Senior Wellness Center and mobile clinics for walk in residents looking to be vaccinated as well, including students as young as 12 years old."
The third doses come as the Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to spread swiftly through the nation.

On Aug. 12, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) amended the emergency use authorizations for both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines to allow for the use of an additional dose in certain immunocompromised individuals.
The third dose is recommended at least 28 days after a resident has received a second dose. Currently, the CDC and FDA are not recommending additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine for individuals who are otherwise healthy.
As of Monday, Somerset County has 25 new positive coronavirus cases. There have been 24,896 cases of the coronavirus and 739 coronavirus-related deaths in Somerset County since the pandemic began in March 2020.
