4 Bridgewater Police Officers Promoted

Lt. James Edwards, Lt. Stephen Zeichner, Sgt. John Kenney, and Sgt. Vincent Stetsko wee honored at the Thursday Bridgewater Council meeting.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Four Bridgewater Township Police Officers were promoted during a ceremony at the Township Council meeting on Thursday.

"Tonight we come together to celebrate the exceptional achievements of and well-deserved promotions of four remarkable individuals within our police department. It is both an honor and a privilege to recognize Officers Kennedy and Stetsko who are being promoted to Sergeant and Sergeants Edwards and Zeichner who are being promoted to Lieutenant," said Bridgewater Police Chief John Mitzak.

"This occasion marks a pivotal moment in their careers, a testament to their dedication, commitment, and outstanding service to our community," said Mitzak.

The following officers were promoted:

  • Lieutenant James Edwards
  • Lieutenant Stephen Zeichner
  • Sergeant John Kennedy
  • Sergeant Vincent Stetsko

"On behalf of all of our residents, we extend to all four officers our sincere congratulations, and express to them — and all who wear the BPD uniform — our profound gratitude for their devoted service to and ceaseless protection of our community," said Bridgewater Township Government.

The promotions were made possible due to the recent retirements of Lt. Frederick Brittain, who served for 22 years, and Lt. Todd Mele, who served for 26 years.

"Their leadership and friendship will be truly missed," said Mitzak. "And I thank them both for their contributions to our police department and for always putting the Bridgewater community first."
