BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater Township was awarded a grant of $404,652 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) to support infrastructure improvements to more than 1.3 miles of roads including Plymouth Road, Ryan Way, and Jeffrey Lane.

Specifically, the allocated funds will be used to focus on the maintenance and protection of traffic, upgrade the existing stormwater facilities, select areas of new curbs and sidewalks, upgrades to accessible routes and ramps, and pavement repairs and resurfacing.

These three roads are used by more than 60 families, according to Mayor Matthew Moench.

The money will also be used to improve the connectivity with the neighboring Crim School to ensure a safe route to and from school for neighborhood students.

"Improving local infrastructure has been a priority of mine since taking office. The Township Council and I have overseen the funding of over 200 roads in the last four years and while we continue to push for safety and functionality improvements all over town, it is critical to find funding sources like these to defray the cost to our taxpayers," said Moench, who also thanked Township staff for getting the grant.

The Township was previously awarded grant money through the same program to finance and facilitate roadway improvements on several other roadways in the township, including Foxcroft Road, Spring Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Road, and Stony Brook Drive.

Since 2020, the Township has received more than $1.8 million in grants for roadway projects throughout the Township.
