5-Unit Special Needs Group Home Could Come To Bridgewater
Bridgewater Council introduced an ordinance to donate the property, which would then go toward the Township's affordable housing obligation.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A five-unit apartment building for the special needs community could be coming to Bridgewater.
The Township Council introduced an ordinance at its April 3 meeting to sell a township-owned property on Whitney Court to Triple C Housing for $100 to construct affordable housing.
Additionally, the ordinance states that if the developer is unable to meet construction costs through other sources, the Township may contribute up to $150,000 from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

Business Administrator Michael Pappas noted that this construction would go toward the Township's affordable housing obligation.
"This would be a five-apartment structure. The special needs population would be served, and we would receive 10 credits toward our requirement," said Pappas at the meeting.

The introduction of the ordinance was passed with the exception of Council Vice President Filipe Pedroso who abstained and Howard Norgalis who was absent from the meeting.
At the previous March 20 Council meeting, Pappas noted that "Triple C has a long history of providing housing for various individuals throughout the state."
A public hearing and final vote on the ordinance will be held at the April 24 Township Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Bridgewater Township Municipal Building, 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater.
