5K Run/Walk Battling Pediatric Cancer Returns To Duke Island Park
The Sean Hanna Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will host its 13th Annual 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 25 in Bridgewater.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Sean Hanna Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will host its 13th Annual 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Duke Island Park.
The event begins at 10 a.m. in Lot B and includes food, awards, giveaways, raffles, and music. All money raised from registration fees and sponsorships will benefit the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital.
The foundation was founded in 2008 and created after Rutgers University student and Piscataway local Sean Hanna's death to pediatric cancer at age 20. Read More: Bridgewater 5K Race Honors Life Of Son, Brother

His brother Jessie created the foundation in his name to help others going through the same thing.
The foundation provides a comprehensive support network to families battling pediatric cancer. The Foundation aims to ease the burdens of patients and families suffering from pediatric cancer through a variety of support services and scholarships.

"We are very excited about our race, especially after the very difficult year we've all been through," said Steve Awad, Senior Project Manager. "The community has done a wonderful job of supporting this great event and our foundation throughout the years, even during the pandemic. We are looking forward to the continued community support. This race is our largest fundraiser and it provides our foundation with necessary funding to support families with pediatric cancer."
Registration for the Sean Hanna 5K is currently available online. Participants may also register the day of the event from 8 to 10 a.m. Registration is $25 per person, with all proceeds to benefit the
Sean Hanna Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Discounts are available for USATF members, military
service, senior citizens, and groups.
Awards will be given to the top overall finishers both male and female, top three finishers (14 years old and under), (15 years old to 19 years old), as well as 10-year age groups (20 years old to 80 years old).
