Coronavirus Deaths On The Rise In Bridgewater

Coronavirus-related deaths have been steadily climbing since Nov. 19 with 9 new deaths reported since Dec. 1.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Only halfway through the month of December and Bridgewater is reporting an increase of nine coronavirus-related deaths.

Bridgewater Township started the month off with 72 total deaths. The township reported one new death on Wednesday and nine new deaths since Dec. 1. This brings the township's total of COVID-19 related deaths to 81 since March.

Looking at the township's data, deaths are on the rise in Bridgewater. Deaths have been steadily climbing since Nov. 19 when the total number went from 67 to 69.

Bridgewater broke down the ages of those who died. It was last updated when there were 79 deaths on Dec. 14.

  • 2 were under the age of 50
  • 5 were between 50 and 64
  • 19 were between 65 and 79
  • 53 were aged 80+

The overall age range of those 79 people is 40 to 105 years of age.

On Wednesday, the township also reported 21 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total to 1,188. Since Dec. 1, there have been 258 new coronavirus cases in Bridgewater.

The state is projecting numbers to continue to rise through the holidays.

Bridgewater's Health Officer Kevin Sumner offers these tips on the township website:

  • Maintain physical distance
  • Wear a face covering
  • Wash your hands
  • Avoid gatherings and parties
  • Follow the directions of health professionals, especially if advised to isolate or quarantine
  • Even if you do not feel sick that does not mean you cannot give it to someone else if you have been exposed
  • As we approach the holidays, it is very important to avoid contact with people not of your household
