Although some centers may be closed, nearly 30 MVC services and transactions can be completed online at NJMVC.gov.
Over the past two months, about 85 percent of standard license renewals and 95 percent of vehicle registration renewals were completed without visiting an MVC site.
MVC In-Person
For residents who need first-time licenses/IDs/permits, name changes, and red decals, walk-in appointments are available at Licensing Centers.
For license/ID and registration renewals that can't be completed online will require an appointment. Renewals are not available on a walk-in basis.
Scheduling an Appointment
To make an appointment at Licensing and Vehicle Centers visit NJMVC.gov. Appointments are being added daily. To best secure an appointment, customers should check multiple MVC locations online after midnight.
Appointment Cancellations
If you can not make a scheduled appointment, cancel it through your confirmation email sent by the MVC upon booking.
If an MVC site is closed due to COVID-19, residents with appointments will be emailed of the cancelation and need to reschedule online.
