Alpine Business Systems Honors Food Ministry

Continuing the monthly initiative to provide support for the region’s non-profit community, Alpine Business Systems named the Food Ministry of the Reformed Church of Bound Brook as “Hero of the Month” for June, 2021. The Food Ministry is located in South Bound Brook.

Each month one of Alpine’s employees selects a non-profit agency for support. The Food Ministry was nominated by Steve Ormosi, Assistant Purchasing Manager.

To support the employee’s selection of a non-profit, Alpine raises funds and collects material donations through employee contributions, social media outreach to clients and colleagues, and posting on www.alpinebiz.com.

The Food Ministry organizes a weekly soup kitchen which provides dinner and fellowship to those individuals who are in need. Additionally, the Food Pantry provides weekly groceries to the underserved in the local communities. To help support the mission of the Food Ministry, Alpine donated $500.00.

According to Rev. Martin Winters, “We started the Food Pantry twenty-two years ago in response to the need that arose during Hurricane Floyd, just one year after our Soup Kitchen opened its doors to serve hot meals. We thank God that because of the on-going support of numerous individuals and organizations, we have been able to help many thousands of people put food on their table.”

Explaining his choice of the Food Pantry, Ormosi commented, “As someone who has grown up in the small town of South Bound Brook, I have watched first-hand how the Food Ministry has assisted so many from all of the communities in the area. After Hurricane Floyd they stepped up and provided not only groceries, but meals and fellowship to the people who had lost their homes and all of their possessions as a result of that horrible flood. To watch them continue 22 years later shows how important this ministry is. I am proud to have nominated them as an Alpine Hero of the Month.”

Previous recipients of Alpine Hero of the Month donations include the Adult Day Center of Somerset County, the Flemington Area Food Pantry, the Ronald McDonald House of Central & Northern NJ, Matheny School and Hospital, the Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) Resource Center & Food Pantry, and Middle Earth.
