BRANCHBURG, NJ — A 21-year-old Branchburg man was killed following a crash on Route 1 in South Brunswick on Wednesday night.
At around 7 p.m., a 2017 Toyota Camry was trying to make a left turn from the Route 1 South off-ramp onto New Road to go east across Route 1, Deputy Police Chief Jim Ryan said.
While trying to turn, the driver hit the passenger side of a 2025 Audi Q5 that was driving west on New Road. The Audi lost control and subsequently overturned.
The Audi lost control and overturned. The driver of the Audi, a 21-year-old man from Branchburg, was ejected from the vehicle and had serious injuries, Ryan said.
He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries, Ryan said.
The Kendall Park Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The crash caused New Road to close for around five hours while emergency crews worked and investigators processed the scene.
This incident remains an active and ongoing investigation.
