BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District is heading into a summer of major construction and renovation work across several school buildings, with HVAC projects, restroom upgrades and classroom improvements planned districtwide.
The work, which is part of the $155 referendum, will touch elementary schools, the middle school and the high school.
HVAC work is a central part of the summer schedule. Boiler replacements and all remaining heating and cooling work are planned at both Crim and Adamsville.
Bradley Gardens is also set for boiler replacements and installation of the main office HVAC system.
At the Middle School 6th Grade Addition, the new electrical service was recently energized. The district reported that project remains on track for summer completion.
A sanitary line replacement under the kitchen and cafeteria B is scheduled to begin on June 19.
Electrical service shutdowns and upgrades at Adamsville, Crim and the High School are expected to wrap up over the summer through PSE&G.
The district reported that utility-related upgrades at Eisenhower and Hillside remain uncertain because of ongoing issues involving JCP&L that have been escalated.
Several other projects are also expected to reach substantial completion this summer.
Restroom renovations are moving forward at six elementary schools: Adamsville, Bradley Gardens, Crim, Hamilton, JFK and Van Holten. Classroom renovation projects at Eisenhower and Hillside are also progressing under their respective contractors.
Interior renovations at the Middle School are progressing and are set for completion this summer, according to the district update.
Window work is continuing at the Middle School and Hillside, with all remaining installations expected to be substantially complete by fall.
Full completion of all referendum projects is anticipated by 2030. The final phase will focus on roofing and site improvements, which were intentionally sequenced last to protect previously completed work.
The referendum work paved the way for the district to roll out full-day kindergarten for the first time ever.
The full-day kindergarten program will be fully implemented for the 2026-27 school year.
